1. Educational and Awareness Purpose Only
All content presented in this webinar and CPD training is provided strictly for general educational and cybersecurity awareness purposes only. The content is designed to inform attendees about the nature and scope of open-source intelligence (OSINT), dark-net and dark-web data environments and associated cybersecurity risks. It does not constitute, and must not be treated as, legal, cybersecurity, financial, forensic, incident-response or any other form of professional advice.
CPD accreditation of this session relates to the educational delivery of the content only. It does not represent any endorsement, verification or certification of the accuracy, completeness or reliability of the information, data or examples presented.
2. Nature of OSINT and Dark-Net Data — Inherent Limitations
Dark-net and OSINT data is, by nature, uncertain, unverified and subject to significant inherent limitations. Attendees must understand and accept the following before placing any reliance on information presented:
Sources. Information and data referenced by Brighten may be sourced from publicly available open-source intelligence (OSINT) and dark-net sources, including dark-web forums, marketplaces, paste sites, data-breach repositories, criminal infrastructure and third-party data aggregators. Such data may be collected, indexed and monitored in real time or near-real time.
No verification. Brighten does not independently verify and makes no representation that any information sourced from OSINT or dark-net environments is accurate, complete, authentic, current, reliable or free from manipulation, fabrication or deliberate deception. Dark-net actors routinely publish false, inflated, duplicated, recycled, outdated or misleading data for extortion, reputational, competitive or criminal purposes.
Not evidence of compromise. The identification, referencing or display of information purportedly relating to any organisation, individual, domain, credential set, IP address or other entity should not, by itself, be interpreted as confirmation that:
• a cybersecurity incident, data breach or compromise has occurred or is ongoing;
• the information is genuine, unmodified or accurately attributed to the named entity;
• any unlawful activity has been carried out by, or against, the named entity; or
• any particular threat actor, vulnerability or exposure is current or poses an actual risk.
Third-party data. Where Brighten references data obtained from third-party sources, Brighten does not warrant the accuracy, integrity or completeness of that third-party data and accepts no responsibility for errors, omissions or misattributions originating from third-party sources.
3. No Endorsement of Unlawful Activity
Brighten does not endorse, facilitate, promote or encourage any unlawful activity, including unauthorised access to computer systems, networks or data; access to or use of illicit dark-net websites, marketplaces, forums or services; or any activity that would constitute an offence under the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), the Cybercrime Act 2001 (Cth), the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) or any other applicable law.
All monitoring, collection and analysis activities conducted by Brighten in connection with its platform and services are carried out using lawful methods and in accordance with applicable law. Nothing presented in this webinar or CPD training instructs, invites or assists attendees to access dark-net environments or engage in any form of unlawful cyber activity.
4. No Professional Advice — Independent Verification Required
The information presented does not constitute professional advice of any kind and must not be relied upon as a substitute for:
• independent cybersecurity assessment, penetration testing or incident investigation;
• legal advice from a qualified legal practitioner;
• forensic analysis or forensic investigation of any identified exposure or incident;
• financial or regulatory advice; or
• appropriate technical cybersecurity controls, monitoring systems or incident-response procedures.

5. Privacy and Personal Information
Where this webinar references or displays information that appears to relate to identified or identifiable individuals, such information is presented for the sole purpose of illustrating the nature and scope of dark-net data exposure and cybersecurity risk. Brighten does not publish, disseminate or make available the personal information of individuals beyond what is necessary for that educational purpose.
Attendees must not record, reproduce, extract, share or otherwise deal with any personal information of third parties that may be referenced or displayed during this session. Any such information is presented under strict conditions of confidentiality and must not be used for any purpose other than the attendee's own professional awareness and education.
6. Recording, Reproduction and Confidentiality
Unauthorised recording is prohibited. Attendees must not record, capture, screenshot, broadcast, livestream, upload, publish or otherwise reproduce the whole or any part of this webinar or CPD training session, or any content, data, examples or materials presented in it, without Brighten's prior written consent.
All content, including any proprietary methodology, platform demonstration, data visualisation or case study presented during this session, is the confidential and proprietary information of Cyber Brighten Pty Ltd ACN 667 101 162 trading as Brighten Tech and is protected by applicable intellectual property and confidentiality laws. Attendance at this session does not confer any right to use, reproduce or commercialise that content.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Cyber Brighten Pty Ltd ACN 667 101 162 trading as Brighten Tech and each of its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents and representatives (Brighten Parties) expressly exclude all liability (whether in contract, tort, negligence, statute or otherwise) for any loss, damage, cost, expense, harm or consequence of any kind arising directly or indirectly from or in connection with:
• reliance on any information, data or material presented in this webinar or CPD training session;
• any inaccuracy, incompleteness or error in OSINT or dark-net data referenced by Brighten;
• any action taken, or omitted to be taken, by any attendee or organisation on the basis of information presented;
• any cybersecurity incident, data breach, reputational harm or financial loss howsoever arising; or
• any failure to identify, flag or report exposure, threat or vulnerability affecting any attendee or organisation.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, the aggregate liability of the Brighten Parties to any attendee or organisation is limited to the resupply of the relevant educational service or, at Brighten's election, the refund of any registration fee paid in respect of this session.
8. Attendee Obligations
Each attendee warrants that they are attending this session for legitimate professional or educational purposes only, and that they will not use any information, data or material presented for any unlawful, harmful, deceptive or improper purpose.
Attendees who become aware of information during this session that may relate to their organisation or to a third party must seek independent legal and cybersecurity advice before taking action. Brighten accepts no responsibility for the consequences of any unilateral action taken by an attendee on the basis of information presented.
